Okay, here I go. This whole blogging thing is new to me so take that in mind as you read this please.
The recent announcement of EA's Star Wars: The Old Republics new expansion "Knights of the Fallen Empire" really has a lot of us who play the game scratching our heads. I'm very excited for the expansion and am seriously considering subbing for 6 months, instead of just month to month, to make sure I get all the goodies.
I want to go over my opinion as to why we may be frozen in carbonite. I had to think about this for some time. Some of the question that came to mind were, For what reason did you get put into carbonite freezing? Did you make the choice your self, or did somebody else talk you into it? Did it happen by some sort of subtlety? Did one of your companions betray you? This and many more. In the end I decided on one scenario that makes the most sense to me.
In a vision, Grand Master Satele Shan see the destruction of both the Jedi and Sith empires to the hands of Emperor Valkorian, the twins and his armies. She also realizes that Valkorian is in fact Vitiate, and at the end of the vision she sees the possibility of you destroying him at a later time. As Jedi like to say " always in motion the future is". And because they believe that, she has two options. Let you help fight now, hoping the vision changes because of you and your abilities or, put you in carbonite and hide you someplace remote and safe. She would then give someone the task of finding and unfreezing you at a given point in the future. That person would help you until you're back to full health, and give you all the details of what happened in the past time you were asleep. And if the battle is close enough and your presence may turn the tide she would unfreeze you early. I guess that's three options. And so that's where the story starts for us.(Insert Darth Marr more Sith).
Let me know what you think. I will be eager to hear more theories!!
Thanks for reading!!
Treyan.
I like your thought process here. Of course, you are approaching this from a Republic/Jedi method of thinking (which though I do not subscribe to, I do enjoy reading other people's interpretations). I think you are on to a good option here, but what do you think happens to Sateele? Does she live through the great destruction? To me it seems like the only way this new faction could take power would be to remove the most powerful of the Republic and Sith Empire. To me that would mean no Marr and no Sateele.
ReplyDeleteNow, I thought somewhere I had seen that Lana Beniko lives and becomes an available companion (I don't remember where I saw this, so I could be very wrong). If this is the case I can see where at least Imperial characters are frozen after a major defeat in hopes that the Heroes of the Empire can be reawakened and drive this new threat from the Galaxy. I know I can't wait to find out more!
As much as it scares me I only see two options for Darth Marr and Satele. Death or Carbonite. Maybe captivity?? If you notice in the Cinematic though the lightsabers presented look nothing like Marr's or Satele's. It gives me a bit of hope that somehow they both live through it!!
DeleteSorry for the Jedi perspective, I have only played a Warrior once to 55 and dont remember much of the story. I am trying again though on Jedi Covenant.
Don't apologize for your perspective. This is your blog and you are not wrong. We all have preferences. Just because I think about it differently, it doesn't mean you are doing something wrong. Keep up the good work! Feel free to check out my SWTOR Fan Blog Group on Facebook and community on Google+. Might help you get the word out. I'll be sure to retweet your announcements as well. Welcome to the blogging community!!!
DeleteCan you give me the links to those?
DeleteThanks

DeleteI don't have the info of the Facebook group, because I don't use that for blogging personally.
And the only Republic toon I have right now is a level 32 Shadow tank. Let me know if you ever come over to Ebon Hawk! I also know some awesome people over on JC, the Harby, and on Jung Ma.
ReplyDeleteI'll like your blog to mine, so you can get more people. and when I see tweets, and so forth, I'll help spread out the word too. I bounce to much between servers, but I have a few on JC, also Shadowlands where my new tanker sits, I was playing with him today, he's a lvl 60 Sith Warrior. But yeah best thing about blogging, is it's our opinions, our thoughts, doesn't matter what is right or wrong, it's how we see it and speak our minds. I'm good for one that, but so hard to find ingame :p
ReplyDeleteI like your train of thought. It'd be a very jedi-like way of thinking and would explain how your character gets where it is.
ReplyDeleteAlso, welcome to the blogging world! I've added your blog to my SWTOR blogroll. :)

(PS Something wrong with the SWTOR blogroll widget, so you're on the normal blogroll for now. Will fix it later!)
DeleteWelcome to the SWTOR Blogosphere! I like where you're going with the carbonite idea ... it very well could be the way it happens.
ReplyDeleteJust an FYI, put in a 'Follow' widget on your blog (go to Template and add widget) so we can easily subscribe and follow by email. Thanks!
DeleteAnother thing that's cool to have is a blogroll. It feels kind of counter-intuitive, but it really helped me to keep in touch with the community. :)
DeleteHowever, the best blogging advice is to just keep writing. Looking forward already to new posts!
Thanks all for the kind words. Being new to this I will need all the advice I can get. "Follow" widget incoming!!
